Silvana Estrada premieres in Sweden at Nalen

For the first time, Sweden will have the chance to experience Silvana Estrada live. On 6 November, she will take the stage at Nalen with her unique voice and poetic songs, where Latin American roots meet a modern expression.

Silvana Estrada sings with heart and emotion, telling stories from her youth in a voice that carries the legacy of Latin American singing - but with a modern tone. Called one of Mexico's best singers and young songwriters by KCRW's José Galván, she is now at the forefront of a new wave of independent female artists in alternative Latin music.

She has collaborated with well-known names such as Jorge Drexler, Mon Laferte, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Love of Lesbian, and Natalia Lafourcade. Raised in Coatepec, Veracruz, in a family where both music and instruments were a part of daily life, she began singing at an early age. She became particularly attached to the Venezuelan cuatro, which she describes as a sound that feels like a warm hug.

As a teenager, she studied jazz in Xalapa, inspired by artists such as Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, but soon chose to follow her path and develop a poetic songwriting style rooted in Latin American folk music. A turning point came when she met American guitarist Charlie Hunter, who helped her record her first album, Lo Sagrado. After a visa application to the US was rejected, she moved to Mexico City – a setback that instead strengthened her artistic direction.

Her debut album Marchita was released in 2022 and was praised by international media such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and El País. Since then, she has toured the United States, Spain, Argentina, and Colombia, becoming the first Latin American artist to perform at Madrid's Royal Palace.
