Holly Humberstone returns to Nalen in January with Cruel World

Holly Humberstone is finally set to return to Nalen on 11 January 2027. Following the postponement of her original Stockholm show, the acclaimed singer-songwriter returns with Cruel World and now Cruel World...So It Ends. After a sold-out show in Klubben in 2026 and considerable demand for her return, she continues to explore a world defined by contrasts, storytelling and striking visual imagery.
Known for her precise and intricately detailed songwriting, nominated for an Ivor Novello Award and winner of the BRIT Rising Star Award 2022, Holly Humberstone has established herself as a global artist with a powerful gift for storytelling. On 13 March, she shared the title track from her second album Cruel World, released on 10 April 2026. The song captures the emotional core of the album, exploring the contrast between pain and pleasure while portraying both the euphoria and heartache of a long-distance relationship. Directed by Silken Weinberg (Ethel Cain), the accompanying video unfolds inside a Victorian theatre, where Holly quietly attempts to sabotage a performance from behind the scenes.
The release followed a strong start to 2026, including a completed European tour, a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and appearances at fashion weeks in London and Paris. Across Cruel World, Humberstone inhabits a dark fairytale universe where childhood memories, monsters and nostalgia collide. The single To Love Somebody, inspired by Victorian theatre, the Brothers Grimm and Nosferatu, reflects the album’s central theme: love as both beautiful and painful. Songs such as Die Happy also explore devotion, danger and desire.
While her debut album Paint My Bedroom Black was marked by turbulence, Cruel World is rooted in stability and reflection. Created alongside her sister and Silken Weinberg, the album’s visual identity draws inspiration from childhood objects and references including Alice in Wonderland, as well as films such as Edward Scissorhands and James and the Giant Peach.
With Cruel World...So It Ends, released on 13 November, Holly Humberstone returns to the world of Cruel World. What was initially intended as a farewell instead became the beginning of a new chapter, allowing her to continue exploring the same emotional landscape through new material. The deluxe edition deepens the story behind Cruel World and expands upon the artistic universe that has defined the album since its release.
Alongside this, her international success continues with sold-out headline shows, including London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, as well as appearances at festivals such as Coachella, Governors Ball and Mad Cool. She has previously toured North America, sold out both Brixton Academy and Eventim Apollo, and performed alongside Taylor Swift and Sam Fender. Written together with Rob Milton, the album explores love in its many forms, romantic, platonic and female friendship, while examining how solidarity can replace competition.
After a sold-out performance in Klubben at Nalen in 2026, demand for her return to Stockholm was strong from the very beginning. The original Nalen show was close to selling out before the tour was postponed, and Holly Humberstone is now set to return to Stora Salen on 11 January 2027. Tickets for the new date are on sale now.
